The American Petroleum Institute reported that the U.S. crude oil stockpiles dropped 6.076 million barrels for the week ending March 24, compared with an expected increase of 0.187 million barrels. The U.S. Energy Information Administration will report official crude inventories for the same period later in the day, with a build of 0.092 million barrels expected.
