Morning market update 27 08 2021:
DXY holds up overnight as a slightly hawkish tone is used in the Jackson Hole Symposium, GDP data came in pretty much bag on expectations with the Initial jobless claims doing much the same all aiding the long US dollar thesis. The GBPUSD sell trade taken yesterday is still open with no significant news out until 20:30 GMT+8 with price index and personal spending data out, more Jackson Hole Symposium, the Fed Chair Powell speaking and consumer sentiment/expectations out by 22:00. The AUDUSD is at a point of interest around 0.7240 support with the Retail Sales (MoM) out at 09:30 GMT+8 with a -2.3% expected possible selling opportunities on this pair are present if that figures come out worse than forecast.
