🤩 Good Thursday everyone! Welcome to another trading day! Today I expect movements from the GBP pairs, stocks, and oil. Let’s look at the main headlines beforehand!
🇬🇧 The Bank of England is set to raise the interest rate by 50 basis points today and unveil its strategy for unwinding some of the £895 billion ($1.1 trillion) of stimulus it delivered over the past decade. This is going to be the biggest rate increase in 27 years. The decision can push GBPUSD above the 50-day SMA at 1.2200 and help it in reaching the 1.2400 level. As for EURGBP, it can reach the support of 0.8300.
🔥 Today, Alibaba, TripAdvisor, and Virgin Galactic release their earnings reports. Alibaba’s stock has already strengthened 8.7% after plunging on Monday, while SPCE gaped more than 3% yesterday.
🇧🇷 Brazil raised the interest rate by 50 basis points to 13.75% as expected and promised more monetary policy tightening. The decision was priced into the performance of USDBRL.
🇨🇳🇺🇸 China begins live-fire military exercises in six zones around Taiwan in response to US House Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s visit. This is potentially a bullish news for gold and oil prices, if something goes against the plan.
📈Global stocks have now rebounded some 9% from a June low, reducing year-to-date losses to about 15%.
