Indian Rupee Slightly Weaker Amid Stronger U.S. Dollar

On May 29, the Indian rupee closed slightly weaker at 85.5075 against the U.S. dollar, down 0.2% from the previous day. The decline was primarily due to a stronger dollar and routine importer demand. Market analysts noted a consolidation phase for the USD/INR pair, with resistance between 85.70–85.90 and strong support around 84.90–85.10. 

Futu’s Q1 Revenue Soars with Surge in Trading Volume

Nasdaq-listed Futu reported a revenue spike of 81.1% YoY in Q1 2025, reaching US$603.4 million, with net profit rising 107% to US$275.4 million. Gross profit also surged 85.9% to US$507.2 million.

Driving the growth was a 140.1% YoY jump in trading volume, which hit HK$3.22 trillion — HK$2.25 trillion in US stocks and HK$916 billion in Hong Kong equities. Funded accounts rose 41.6% to 2.67 million, while brokerage accounts climbed 30% to 4.95 million.

Chairman and CEO Leaf Hua Li highlighted Hong Kong as the biggest source of new funded accounts, boosted by a strong market rally and IPO wave. He also cited Malaysia for having the fastest sequential growth among the firm’s seven markets.  The number of total users rose 16.8% YoY to 26.3 million. Total client assets jumped 60.2% to HK$829.8 billion, with average daily client assets up 64.7% to HK$790.4 billion.
Futu introduced several platform innovations, including the AI-based Futubull assistant and a redesigned desktop version in Hong Kong. In Japan, it expanded its US stock capabilities with fractional shares and launched US options trading in April.

Interactive Brokers UK Posts Revenue and Account Growth

Interactive Brokers’ UK unit saw client accounts surge 142% in 2024 to 64,146. This helped boost revenue to £36 million, up 15% from £31.3 million in 2023.

Although administrative expenses hit £59.4 million, finance income reached £131.8 million. After offsetting finance costs, pre-tax profits rose 20% YoY to £13.6 million, with net profit at £10.5 million.

The FCA-regulated broker offers services in equities, derivatives, CFDs, and more. It also opened a new Dubai branch last year to expand its global presence.

Parent company Interactive Brokers Group reported Q1 2025 revenue of $1.4 billion, up from $1.2 billion YoY. EPS rose to $1.88 from $1.64, though it fell short of analysts’ $1.92 estimate.

FOREX.com Expects Account Surge via AI-Powered eKYC

StoneX Securities, operator of FOREX.com in Japan, projects a doubling in account openings after integrating LIQUID eKYC, an AI identity verification system.

The AI system eliminates common bottlenecks like photo capture errors, guiding users in real time and cutting drop-off rates. Previously, unclear ID images caused high abandonment during onboarding.

With a user base spanning 180 countries, the upgrade aligns with Japan’s strict AML regulations and enhances usability for both locals and foreigners.

Beyond faster onboarding, the system automates error detection and resubmission prompts. It also provides support for manual verification and multilingual implementation, helping FOREX.com meet local legal requirements.

The platform supports 84 FX pairs and 26 knock-out options, with access via web, mobile, and MT4.

Robinhood Launches Desktop Platform for UK Traders

Robinhood has started rolling out its advanced desktop trading platform, Robinhood Legend, to UK users. The platform is designed for active traders and supports 6,000 US stocks plus options.

The browser-based platform offers advanced charts, real-time data, and customizable setups — aiming to attract more of the UK’s 11 million desktop traders.

President of Robinhood UK, Jordan Sinclair, said Legend delivers the speed and precision active investors demand, with a clean and intuitive interface — all free of charge.

This follows Robinhood’s earlier rollout of options trading in the UK. After two failed attempts to enter the market, the broker finally launched in 2024 and now aims to be a leading choice for active global investors.

Despite crypto recently surpassing options in revenue, Robinhood’s crypto income fell 30% in Q1 2025 to $252 million, while options generated $240 million. The company plans to further diversify away from crypto due to market volatility.
