Japanese stocks are lower in early trade as uncertainty over earnings and U.S. tariffs continues. Chip-related stocks are leading the declines.
Renesas Electronics is down 2.4% and Tokyo Electron Ltd. is 4.3% lower. USD/JPY is at 147.32, compared with 147.48 as of Wednesday's Tokyo stock market close.
Investors are focusing on domestic earnings as well as any tariff-related developments. Sony Group and Toyota Motor are scheduled to announce their results later in the day. The Nikkei Stock Average is down 0.1% at 40760.24.
