Investing - Brazil stocks were lower after the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Public Utilities, Consumption and Electric Power sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Sao Paulo, the Bovespa fell 0.89%.
The best performers of the session on the Bovespa were MRV Engenharia e Participacoes SA, which rose 6.63% or 0.43 points to trade at 6.92 at the close. Meanwhile, SLC Agricola SA added 1.35% or 0.23 points to end at 17.32 and Brava Energia SA was up 1.22% or 0.24 points to 19.94 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Cvc Brasil ON, which fell 10.78% or 0.25 points to trade at 2.07 at the close. Companhia Brasileira De Distribuica declined 10.56% or 0.32 points to end at 2.71 and Pet Center Comercio e Partcipacoes was down 5.91% or 0.25 points to 3.98.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the B3 Stock Exchange by 484 to 481 and 44 ended unchanged.
The CBOE Brazil Etf Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Bovespa options, was down 0.61% to 24.49.
Gold Futures for December delivery was up 0.26% or 8.70 to $3,407.70 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in September fell 0.66% or 0.42 to hit $62.75 a barrel, while the September US coffee C contract rose 1.32% or 4.15 to trade at $319.30 .
USD/BRL was up 0.16% to 5.40, while EUR/BRL rose 0.44% to 6.32.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.31% at 97.63.
