(MT Newswires) -- Chinese shares closed flat on Thursday as investors are cautious over news from the US Federal Reserve at the annual Jackson Hole symposium.
The Shanghai Composite Index rose marginally to finish at 3,771.10, while the Shenzhen Component Index moderately declined to 11,919.76.
The Fed's chair, Jerome Powell, will give a speech at the event later, which could signal whether interest rates will be trimmed in September.
Powell previously expressed reluctance over rate cuts due to potential tariff-driven price pressures.
In corporate news, Muyuan Foods jumped 5.7% after its attributable profit surged 1,170% or more than 12 times year on year to 10.5 billion yuan in the first half.
TBEA soared 5.6% as its first-half attributable profit rose 5% to 3.18 billion yuan year on year.
