The annual inflation rate in Georgia rose to 4.6% in August 2025 from 4.3% in the previous month. The increase was mainly attributed to higher prices for alcoholic beverages and tobacco (4.7% vs 3.7% in July) and restaurants and hotels (6.8% vs 6.7%), while costs recovered for communication (0.2% vs -6.9%). At the same time, prices fell at a softer pace for transport (-2.4% vs -3.8%) and recreation and culture (-0.2% vs -1.4%). Additionally, prices remained steady for housing and utilities (0.8%), education (4.6%), and miscellaneous goods and services (5.5%). In contrast, inflation moderated for food and non-alcoholic beverages (10% vs 10.4%) and health (9.3% vs 9.5%). Deflation also deepened for clothing and footwear (-2.9% vs -2.8%). On a monthly basis, consumer prices grew by 0.3% in August, reversing a 0.2% decline in the previous month.
