The average contract interest rate for 30-year fixed-rate mortgages with conforming loan balances ($806,500 or less) in the US fell to 6.64% in the week ending August 29th 2025, the lowest in almost five months, from 6.69% in the previous period. A year earlier, borrowing costs were lower at 6.43%.
