The number of job quits in the US was little changed at 3.208 million in July 2025, compared to a downwardly revised 3.209 million in June and below the 3.390 million recorded a year ago. It was the lowest level since December 2024. The quits rate—which measures voluntary job departures as a share of total employment—held steady for the fourth month running at 2.0%. Quits decreased in construction (-80,000) and in transportation, warehousing, and utilities (-49,000), but rose in professional and business services (+197,000). Regionally, job quits declined in the Midwest (-97,000) and the Northeast (-28,000), increased in the South (+123,000) and were unchanged in the West.
