Switzerland’s non-seasonally adjusted unemployment rate edged up to 2.8% in August 2025, from 2.7% over the previous three months, which had marked the lowest level since November 2024. This was the highest jobless rate since April, as the number of unemployed individuals increased by 3 thousand from the prior month to a five-month high of 132.1 thousand. Meanwhile, the youth unemployment rate—covering job-seekers aged 15 to 24—rose to 3.2% from 2.7%, marking the highest since March 2021, with the number of unemployed youth increasing by 2.2 thousand to 13.7 thousand. Additionally, the number of reported job vacancies fell by 1.9 thousand, reaching 37.9 thousand, the lowest in eight months. On a seasonally adjusted basis, the jobless rate remained unchanged at 2.9%.
