Retail sales in Bulgaria grew by 6% year-on-year in July 2025, slowing from a 6.8% rise in the previous month. This was mainly driven by lower sales in other retail sales in non-specialised stores (10.7% vs 13.6%), household appliances and furnitures (11.9% vs 15.5%), pharmaceutical and medical goods, cosmetics and toiletries (9.5% vs 10.5%), and automotive fuels and lubricants (3.0% vs 9.7%). In addition, sales of food, beverages and tobacco (-7.0% vs -3.8%) declined further. Meanwhile, sales increased in non-food products (11.8% vs 11.7%), textiles, clothing, footwear, leather goods (16.6% vs 10.2%), and computer and communication equipment (18.9% vs 16.6%). On a monthly basis, retail sales grew by 0.5% in July, easing slightly from last month’s 0.6% gain.
