Slovakia’s trade surplus widened to EUR 246.5 million in July 2025 from EUR 92.7 million in the same month a year ago, surpassing market expectations of EUR 100 million, as export growth outpaced imports. Exports increased by 3.0% year-on-year to EUR 8,418.6 million, driven mainly by higher sales in the machinery and transport equipment sector, which includes automobiles. Exports to the EU climbed by 6.6%, while those to non-EU countries dropped by 8.6%. Meanwhile, imports rose by 1.1% to EUR 8,172.0 million, amid increased purchases for miscellaneous industrial products. Imports from the EU grew by 4.0%, while those from non-EU countries fell by 3.8%. For the first seven months of the year, however, the country’s trade surplus narrowed to EUR 1,361.7 million from EUR 2,504.0 million in the corresponding period of the previous year.
