Greece Inflation Slows to 2.9%

The annual inflation rate in Greece slowed to 2.9% in August 2025, from a more than one-year high of 3.1% in July. Price growth eased across several groups, including food and non-alcoholic beverages (2.2% vs 2.8% in July), clothing and footwear (7.7% vs 8.4%), housing (3.7% vs 6.6%), communication (1.7% vs 2.1%), health (0.6% vs 2%), and alcoholic beverages and tobacco (1.2% vs 1.8%). Conversely, transport costs rebounded (1.6% vs -1.1%), while prices for recreation and culture increased (1.2% vs 0.8%). At the same time, prices for hotels, cafés, and restaurants (6.2%) and education (2.6%) held steady. On a monthly basis, consumer prices edged up 0.1%, after a 0.4% drop in the previous month.
