The annual inflation rate in Moldova eased to 7.3% in August 2025 from 7.9% in the previous month. The slowdown was mainly due to softer price increases in food products, which rose 8.5% from 10.3% in July, particularly for vegetables and fruits. In contrast, inflation continued to edge up in non-food products to 2.2% from 2.1%, reflecting higher prices in fuels, while costs in services increased slightly by 13.1% from 13% in the prior month. On a monthly basis, consumer prices fell by 0.4% in August, marking the lowest reading since December 2023, after stalling in the preceding period.
