Sri Lanka’s Manufacturing PMI declined to 55.2 in August 2025 from 62.2 in the previous month, signaling a moderation in the pace of expansion in the manufacturing sector. All sub-indices remained above the neutral 50 mark, though growth softened across the board. New Orders (56.5 vs 67.5) and Production (54.0 vs 66.5) continued to expand, driven mainly by the food and beverages manufacturing segment. Stock of Purchases (53.5 vs 59.5) also expanded, while Employment (54.0 vs 55.0) remained in positive territory. Meanwhile, Suppliers’ Delivery Times (57.1 vs 55.6) stayed elevated, reflecting reported delays in international shipping.
