The Australian sharemarket rose at the open on Tuesday, buoyed by a rally in mining stocks and following record highs on Wall Street.
The benchmark S&P/ASX 200 index rose 21.2 points or 0.2 per cent to 8874.2 at the start of trade, with five out of the 11 sectors in the green. That's after the S&P 500 reset its record high and closed above 6600 for the first time.
The tech-heavy Nasdaq Composite also notched a record high buoyed by a 4.3 per cent rally in Alphabet and a 3.6 per cent advance in Tesla.
