(MT Newswires) -- Chinese stocks finished higher for a second straight day after both Washington and Beijing saw a "win-win" deal to short video app TikTok and optimism regarding a call between Donald Trump and Xi Jinping.
The Shanghai Composite Index, the main gauge of Chinese stocks, increased 0.4% or by 14.48 points to 3,876.34. The Shenzhen Component Index grew 1.2% or by 151.48 points to 13,215.46.
Investors are awaiting the results of a call scheduled between the US and Chinese leaders to confirm the agreement sealed in Madrid, Reuters reported Wednesday.
"China reached the relevant consensus with the United States on the TikTok issue because it is based on the principles of mutual respect, peaceful coexistence and win-win cooperation," a commentary from Beijing's official People's Daily said the same day.
On the corporate front, Hisense Home Appliances' Shenzhen shares rose 3% following a nearly 2-billion-yuan investment in wealth mangement products in 2025.
