Malta’s annual inflation rate rose to 2.7% in August 2025 from 2.5% in each of the previous two months. The increase was driven mainly by higher prices for food and non-alcoholic beverages (4% vs 3.8% in July), furnishings, household equipment and routine household maintenance (1.7% vs 0.4%), recreation and culture (2.4% vs 1.5%), restaurants and hotels (3.5% vs 3.1%), and miscellaneous goods and services (3.4% vs 3.2%). In addition, prices rebounded for clothing and footwear (2.7% vs -0.3%) and remained unchanged for alcoholic beverages and tobacco (2%), housing and utilities (0.7%), health (2.8%), and education (5.2%).
