The annual inflation rate in Lebanon eased slightly to 14.2% in August 2025, marking the lowest reading since April 2025, from 14.3% in the previous month. The slowdown was mainly driven by slower price growth in clothing and footwear (9.1% vs 10.5% in July), housing and utilities (17.8% vs 18.7%), furnishings, household equipment and routine household maintenance (2.3% vs 5.9%), recreation, amusement, and culture (8.7% vs 10.6%). In addition, deflation deepened for communication (-0.7% vs -0.4%). Meanwhile, costs grew for food and non-alcoholic beverages (23.6% vs 21.9%), alcoholic beverages and tobacco (14.1% vs 13.9%), health (4.8% vs 4.6%), transportation (1.2% vs 1%), restaurants and hotels (12.2% vs 11.6%), and miscellaneous goods and services (27.1% vs 26.6%). On a monthly basis, consumer prices rose by 0.4% in August, slowing from 1.3% in the preceding month.
