Finland’s unemployment rate rose to 9.3% in August 2025 from 7.5% in the same month of the previous year. The number of unemployed persons climbed by 53 thousand from a year earlier to 267 thousand, while the number of employed persons decreased by 23 thousand to 2.594 million. Meanwhile, the unemployment rate for people aged 15 to 24 increased to 16.6%, which was 3.6 percentage points higher than a year ago. The activity rate for persons aged 15 to 74 went up to 68.7% from 68.2% a year ago, while the employment rate for persons aged 20 to 64 declined to 76.2% from 76.9%.
