The Australian sharemarket was up at the open ahead of a Reserve Bank meeting on Tuesday, widely expected to stay on hold following a hot inflation report.
The S&P/ASX 200 Index rose 0.5per cent, or 43.8 points, to 8831.5.30 at 10.15am AEST . Gains were stronger than the 0.2 per cent jump futures had forecasted.
