Private consumption in Thailand stagnated from a month earlier in August 2025, following a 0.2% fall in the previous month. Spending rose on services, particularly in hotels, restaurants, and transport, supported by both domestic and foreign tourism as well as the “Thai Half-Half Travel” campaign. At the same time, non-durable goods spending increased, driven by higher fuel sales in line with stronger transport activity. In contrast, spending on durable goods declined, as consumers held off for promotions and new models at the Motor Expo. Semi-durable goods consumption also fell due to weaker textile and apparel imports. Consumer confidence continued to weaken amid political uncertainty, ongoing Thai-Cambodian border tensions, global trade uncertainties, and a slow economic recovery.
