Retail sales in Croatia rose 2.4% year-on-year in August 2025, accelerating from an upwardly revised 1.5% growth in July. The pickup was driven by faster sales growth in non-food products (8.7% vs 8.4% in July) and automotive fuels and lubricants (6.5% vs 3.2%). Meanwhile, growth softened for internet or mail-order trade (3.0% vs 4.1%), while sales of food, beverages, and tobacco declined 2.8%, following a 1.9% drop in July. On a monthly basis, retail turnover rose 0.4%, recovering from a downwardly revised 1.7% decline in July, which was the steepest drop since April 2021. For the January–August period, retail sales increased 3.6% compared with the same period last year.
