The Euro Area seasonally adjusted unemployment rate edged up to 6.3% in August 2025, from an all-time low of 6.2% in July, contrary to forecasts for it to remain steady. The number of unemployed increased by 11,000 from the prior month to 10.842 million. Meanwhile, the youth unemployment rate, reflecting those under 25 seeking employment, stood at 14% in August, the lowest since March 2023, matching July's revised reading. Among the bloc’s largest economies, Spain (10.3%), France (7.5%), and Italy (6%) continued to see the highest jobless rates, while Germany (3.7%) and the Netherlands (3.9%) recorded the lowest. A year ago, the jobless rate was the same at 6.3%. In the broader European Union, the jobless rate stood at 5.9%
