Norway Manufacturing Output Rises for 2nd Month

Norway’s manufacturing production rose by 0.7% month-over-month in August 2025, following an upwardly revised 0.4% gain in the previous month. This marked the second consecutive month of growth in manufacturing activity, mainly driven by sharp recovery in the output of transport equipment n.e.c. (24% vs -13.4% in July), fabricated metal products (11.7% vs -6.7%), and refined petroleum, chemicals, and pharmaceuticals (5.3% vs -1.4%). Additionally, production declined at a lesser extent for paper and paper products (-0.9% vs -2.2%). On the other hand, activity decreased for ships, boats and oil platforms (-3.3% vs 3.1%), textiles, wearing apparel, leather (-0.7% vs 4.6%), and repair, installation of machinery (-0.1% vs 3.6%). On a yearly basis, manufacturing output climbed by 5% in August, the fastest rise in three months, following an upwardly revised 1.6% increase in the preceding period.
