Austria’s trade balance posted a deficit of EUR 1,886.3 billion in July 2025, shifting from a surplus of EUR 679.7 billion in the corresponding month of the previous year. This marked the largest deficit since January 2023,as imports rose while exports declined. Imports increased by 3.4% year-on-year to EUR 16.95 billion, driven primarily by a rise in machinery and vehicles (+10.5%), other manufactured goods (+3.4%), and processed goods (+1.4%). Imports advanced for EU countries (+5.7%), but declined for non-EU countries (-1.2%). Meanwhile, exports tumbled 11.9% year-on-year to EUR 15.06 billion, attributed to lower shipments of chemical products (-30.2%), followed by machinery and vehicles (-11.4%). Exports dropped to both non-EU countries (-29.1%) and EU countries (-3.4%).
