The Australian sharemarket traded sideways at the open on Wednesday as local investors await key September quarter inflation data to be released later this morning, which will shape the outlook for interest rates.
The inflation data from the Australian Bureau of Statistics is expected to show growth of 3 per cent in the year to September 30, compared to 2.1 per cent in the year to June 30. Data will be monitored closely by the Reserve Bank ahead of its interest rate decision next Tuesday.
