The Australian sharemarket nudged higher for a second consecutive day at the open, tracking strong gains by US tech stocks, as hopes that the Federal Reserve will cut interest rates buoy investor confidence.
The S&P/ASX 200 index lifted 6 points, or 0.1 per cent, to 8531.10 at 10.10am AEDT , with tech pacing gains in three of the 11 sectors.
