The Australian sharemarket opened higher for a third consecutive session, tracking optimism that the US will see a December interest rate cut.
The S&P/ASX 200 index was up 15.40 points, or 0.2 per cent, to 8621.90 at 10.10am AEDT with eight sectors in the black. Wall Street notched a fourth straight session of gains overnight before markets shut for Thanksgiving, boosted by expectations for interest rate cuts and renewed enthusiasm for the artificial intelligence trade.
