Mexico Stocks Higher at Close of Trade; S&P/BMV IPC Up 0.47%

  • Mexican stocks closed higher, with the S&P/BMV IPC gaining 0.47%, supported by strength in Industrials, Consumer Goods & Services, and Consumer Staples.
  • Top performers were Fomento Econmico Mexicano (+5.36%), Volaris' parent company (+4.25%), and Grupo Bimbo (+4.05%).
  • Industrias Peoles, Kimberly-Clark de Mxico, and Bolsa Mexicana de Valores led the declines, while market breadth was slightly negative (125 losers vs. 115 gainers).

Investing - Mexico stocks were higher after the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Industrials, Consumer Goods & Services and Consumer Staples sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Mexico, the S&P/BMV IPC rose 0.47%.
The best performers of the session on the S&P/BMV IPC were Fomento Economico Mexicano UBD, which rose 5.36% or 9.46 points to trade at 185.89 at the close. Meanwhile, Controladora Vuela Compania de Aviacion SAB de CV added 4.25% or 0.57 points to end at 13.99 and Grupo Bimbo SAB De CV was up 4.05% or 2.35 points to 60.35 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Industrias Penoles Sab De CV, which fell 4.52% or 37.08 points to trade at 784.16 at the close. Kimberly - Clark De Mexico A declined 3.88% or 1.55 points to end at 38.35 and Bolsa Mexicana De Valores SAB De CV was down 2.59% or 0.95 points to 35.68.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Mexico Stock Exchange by 125 to 115 and 14 ended unchanged.
Gold Futures for February delivery was down 0.79% or 33.80 to $4,241.00 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in January fell 1.15% or 0.68 to hit $58.64 a barrel, while the February Brent oil contract fell 1.14% or 0.72 to trade at $62.45 a barrel.
USD/MXN was down 0.08% to 18.28, while EUR/MXN rose 0.06% to 21.25.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.07% at 99.30. (AI)
