Jordan’s unemployment rate inched up to 21.4% in Q3 2025, rising from 21.3% in the previous two quarters, which was its lowest level since Q1 2020 but down 0.1 percentage points from 21.5% in the same quarter last year. The increase was attributed to a rise in female Jordanian unemployment, which reached 33.9%, up 0.6 percentage points from Q3 2024 and 1.1 percentage points from the previous quarter. This coincided with graduates entering the labour force after completing their studies in the first half of the year. Meanwhile, male unemployment was 18%, down 0.3 points from Q3 2024 and 0.1% from Q2 2025. The share of unemployed Jordanians with secondary education or higher was 59.1%, while 40.3% had less than secondary education. The labour participation rate was 33.4%, down from 34.3% in Q3 2024.
