8th December 2025 - (Hong Kong) Hong Kong equities made a subdued start, with the Hang Seng Index slipping 17 points, or 0.06 per cent, to 26,067 at the open. The China Enterprises Index was little changed, up by fewer than one point at 9,198, while the Tech Index added four points, or 0.08 per cent, to 5,666. Technology counters were mixed. Tencent eased 0.4 per cent and Meituan fell 0.6 per cent, while Alibaba was flat. Xiaomi gained 0.3 per cent and JD.com advanced 0.2 per cent, whereas Kuaishou declined 0.6 per cent.
Financials were also uneven. HSBC Holdings retreated 0.9 per cent, while AIA rose 0.4 per cent. Ping An Insurance edged up 0.2 per cent, and Hong Kong Exchanges and Clearing also added 0.2 per cent.
