12th December 2025 - (Hong Kong) Hong Kong stocks advanced at the open on Friday, with technology and financial shares providing the main support. The Hang Seng Index started 230 points, or 0.9 per cent, higher at 25,761. The China Enterprises Index gained 78 points, or 0.88 per cent, to 9,013, while the Tech Index rose 56 points, or 1.02 per cent, to 5,591.
Blue-chip tech counters strengthened in early trade. Tencent added 1 per cent, Alibaba climbed 1.3 per cent, Meituan edged up 0.4 per cent, Xiaomi rose 1.1 per cent, JD.com increased 0.7 per cent and Kuaishou advanced 1.5 per cent.
Financials also underpinned sentiment. HSBC Holdings rose 1.8 per cent, AIA Group inched up 0.1 per cent, Ping An Insurance gained 0.7 per cent and Hong Kong Exchanges and Clearing was up 0.9 per cent.
