US stocks finished at fresh records Wednesday following a shortened session as markets drifted higher consistent with typical holiday season patterns.
The Dow Jones Industrial Average gained 0.6 percent to 48,731.16, a new all-time high.
The broad-based S&P 500 gained 0.3 percent to 6,932.05, a second straight record, while the tech-rich Nasdaq Composite Index climbed 0.2 percent to 23,613.31.
