The Shanghai Composite rose 0.13% to close at 4,128 while the Shenzhen Component inched up 0.02% to 14,210 on Tuesday, extending gains from the previous session as media stocks surged on optimism surrounding ByteDance's latest AI video-generation model.
Among individual names, COL Group, Beijing Enlight Media and Beijing Jebsen Technology all hit their daily upper limits to finish 20% higher.
ByteDance's next-generation Seedance 2.0 is expected to significantly cut production costs and technical barriers for AI-generated animated dramas, while improving efficiency.
Gains were also seen in technology, clean energy and industrial names, including GCL System Integration (+4.4%), Cambricon Technologies (+1.3%), Sungrow Power (+1.4%), Zhejiang Sanhua (+3.3%) and Hengtong Opto-Electric (+7.3%).
Meanwhile, trading volumes began to thin as investors positioned ahead of the extended Lunar New Year holiday running from Feb. 15 to 23.
