📈 U.S. markets surged yesterday – the Dow Jones and Russell 2000 hit fresh record highs as optimism builds ahead of tomorrow’s Fed decision 🇺🇸. Traders expect a 25 bps rate cut and the official end of the QT programme, while Thursday’s Trump–Xi summit remains in focus 🤝.
🏦 Today brings earnings from Visa, PayPal, UPS, UnitedHealth, Southern Copper, Booking Holdings, and Mondelez after the session, while Novartis, NextEra Energy, Sherwin-Williams, and Royal Caribbean report before Wall Street opens.
📉 U.S. index futures are slightly lower (–0.1% to –0.15%), and most European futures including UK100 and DE40 are also in the red. Gold has retreated by over 1% to $3,950, while EUR/USD is edging up to 1.166. In Europe, traders await the German GfK consumer sentiment data.
💡 Among corporate movers, Nucor gained +2% after strong Q3 results (EPS $2.63 vs $2.05–$2.15 expected), though it warned of weaker Q4. F5 Networks tumbled –6% after revealing disruptions linked to a recent cyberattack blamed on Chinese hackers 🐉, while NXP Semiconductors rose nearly +2% on upbeat results and guidance.
⚡ Meanwhile, OpenAI urged Washington to boost the U.S. energy supply by 100 gigawatts per year ⚙️ to prevent an “electricity gap” with China – warning that limited power could hinder AI innovation and future growth.
